Summary This SMD Component holder/box system was inspired by several other SMD storage projects (Links at the end). Overview A SMD component storage system that consists of two printable parts: The component holder. Holds a "tape" of up to 100 SMD components.Organizer rack. Organizes the component holders into logical racks (e.g. One E-Series per rack, or 1 Project per rack).Main design goals for my design was A system that works well with prototyping and small projectsZero-effort "installation"Easy to dispense componentsEasy organization / overview of componentsNo risk of having components "spill out"Easy to print, No additional screws/etcPrinting Instructions You'll need a decently tuned printer in order for the holder to fit well onto the rack. Recommend you follow the following procedure for printing: Print 1 holderPrint the "Rail-Test-XYFit"Check that the holder snaps nicely into the rack => Your printer is well tuned. 3b. If it doesn't snap nicely in:Recommended option: Tune your printer so it's dimensionally accurate.Backup option: Tune the "Rack" so that there's more clearance towards the Holder. FreeCAD 3D file included.Print 7 more holders. Hold them tightly together and measure the length => Should be under 81mm.Print the 8-Slot Rack 81mm Rack. Check that the 8 holders fit in nicely.I've included some common Rack Lengths (6-Slot, 8-Slot, 10-Slot, 12-Slot). If you want a customized Rack length, it's really easy to edit it in FreeCAD. Masterfile included. Just change the "Rail => CenterProfile => Length" Property.
