Genmitsu 3018 Pro Vacuum Attachment Note: This is just one of many easy enhancements I have posted for the Genmitsu 3018 Pro CNC Router. None of my enhancements require any modifications to the stock hardware. Just bolt them on and go. If you look under my postings you'll see others including the Cable Chain, X,Y & Z Limit Switches, Vacuum Adapter, Cushion Feet, Clamping Set, E-Stop Mount and more. Your CNC will no doubt make dust, lots of dust. But with a good dust control / vacuum setup you can keep it to a minimum. Genmitsu makes a "Dust Shoe" which I highly recommend. You can get it on Amazon item id B09CSYLZ36. The dust show screws easily on the bottom of the spindle motor. The portion with the brushes is a magnet mount and snaps off so you can change bits easily. You will want to align your bits with the bottom of the brush. The challenge then is how to hook it up to a hose. The outside diameter of the dust shoe fitting is 1-1/2". I could not find a light duty hose with those dimensions. All the hoses I found were far to heavy and would interfere with the spindle X movement. But I was able to easily find a light duty vacuum hose that was 1-1/4" inside diameter (amazon item id B0D4RB8H5Y). So I made an adapter. It fits snuggly inside the hose and tightly onto the dust shoe. So, I realize there is more to it than this. You will need to configure a "hanger" for the hose so all the pressure is not on the spindle. You will also need a dust collector or vacuum. I will attack those items in a future write-up. But the start of it is getting a hose to connect to a dust shoe. The adapter was 3D printed using PETG filament with 15% infill and no supports. It probably doesn't matter what filament is used but I find that PLA tends to melt and malform sometimes with temperatures and ABS can be a little brittle when trying to snap the chain links together. Also I design everything in OpenSCAD which is a free CAD program. I have included all of the source files I made which you can modify as you'd like.
